Visa wait times: Increasing economic and social ties between the United States and India is one of the highest priorities of the U.S. Mission. We are committed to providing the highest level of service we can in adjudicating visas for Indian citizens traveling to the United States for business, studies, and tourism. In the last five years the demand for visas to travel to the United States has increased 80 percent. In FY2015, we processed over one million visa applications in India, issuing more than 113,000 H-1B visas and 80,000 visas to student and exchange visitors, more than at any time in history. Accommodating visa demand on this scale requires adequate staffing. We are engaged in an active dialogue with the Government of India to obtain approval for additional consular positions to meet the needs of our growing, vibrant relationship. We anticipate wait times for visa appointments will increase throughout the busy summer season until the situation is resolved. We regret that increased appointment wait times may impact important travel plans. We will continue to work with the Indian government to resolve this situation. Due to our personnel constraints, Mission India consular sections are currently only approving expedite visa appointments for cases involving genuine emergencies, as outlined here http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-niv-expeditedappointment.asp .
There is no need to contact the Call Center, simply log in to your profile and check for the first available appointment dates. Alternatively, follow link for Interview wait time and processing wait time.
