Group Appointments

As a result of the Russian government’s personnel cap imposed on the U.S. Mission to Russia, group appointment requests can only be submitted as follows:

Petition based categories: US Embassy in Moscow.

B1/B2 visas: The US Embassy in Moscow will review group appointment requests of applicants travelling on a U.S. Government sponsored travel program. The US Consulates General in Yekaterinburg (Consular Services Suspended) and Vladivostok (Consular Services Suspended) will review group appointment requests of applicants traveling together for educational purposes such as short-term training, academic conferences, or high school English study trips.

J1 visas: The U.S. Embassy in Moscow will review group appointment requests for applicants travelling on a U.S. Government sponsored travel program.

When submitting a group appointment request, please be sure to include detailed information about the nature of your travel plans and several preferred interview dates. The Embassy will attempt to accommodate such requests.

If your group has fewer than 9 people, you cannot book a group appointment.

How to Apply

Step 1

Request a group appointment using the online appointment system. Once you have submitted your request, please wait for a response from the U.S. Embassy/Consulate, which will come via email. Please note that the call center cannot create a group request on your behalf, but agents are able to assist you if you have questions about the process for making the request.

Please do NOT add any group members / dependents before you have received an email saying your group request has received approval from the Embassy. You will add the group members / dependents only after you have received the email confirmation.

Step 2

If the U.S. Embassy approves your request then you will receive an email alerting you to schedule appointments for each member of your group. Please understand that the call center cannot schedule appointments for you, but agents are able to assist if questions arise. Should the U.S. Embassy/Consulate deny the request for a group appointment, you will be notified of the denial by email and each group member must schedule individual appointments.

Note: The email confirming or denying your request will come from Some email applications have rules which filter unknown senders into a spam or junk mail folder. If you have not received your email notification, please look for the message in your junk and spam email folders.

Step 3

Each group member must pay the visa application fee. If your group makes a bulk fee payment, you will receive only one receipt number per transaction and will use this receipt number for each valid MRV fee paid.

Effective July 31st, 2021 US Embassy in Moscow discontinues acceptance of nonimmigrant visa application fees through the network of computerized Russia Post branch in Russia. There are no plans to resume acceptance of nonimmigrant visa application fees at this point of time. All fees purchased before August 1st, 2021 are valid until September 30, 2022. MRV fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to a different applicant or country of application.

Step 4

Each group member must complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form.

Step 5

Each group member must be scheduled for an appointment using the online appointment system by the group coordinator who made the initial request. Each group member will need three pieces of information in order to schedule an appointment:

  • Their passport number
  • Their MRV fee payment receipt number
  • The ten (10) digit barcode number from their DS-160 confirmation page

Step 6

Each group member must visit the U.S. Embassy in Moscow on the date and time of their visa interview. They will need to bring a printed copy of their appointment letter, DS-160 confirmation page, one recent photograph, a current passport and all old passports, plus all supporting documents required for their P visa application. Applications without all of these items will not be accepted.
